I have been a Registered Nurse for 14 years... that's 147 in human years! I graduated from Nursing school with a Diploma in Nursing in 2009. Shortly after I obtained my BSN. Then with my 8 billion dollars in school loan debt, I pursued experience in a variety of nursing/clinical settings including, Home Health care, Med-Surg, Critical Care, Mother Baby, NICU, Travel Nursing, and Community nursing through almost 20 years of volunteering for Philadelphia community service and health education/programs. Because of that I have been honored with community leadership awards since 2003
The sometimes-dirty truth in nursing, once discovered and unprepared for, can have detrimental long lasting traumatic effects on a nurse if they do not feel supported! I will share my gifts of humor and experience in the nursing profession to bring happiness, joy, comfort, a smile, or at least some type of relief to my audience dealing with the struggles of nursing.
I particularly REALLY love to talk about the things that nursing students and new grads want to know outside of the nursing curriculum so that they can thrive in their new profession. I aim to make my blog, "It's Nurse Nina's Blog," a safe space where nursing students, new grads and seasoned nurses will feel embraced and supported with the struggles of nursing because sadly, our nursing peers are very often NOT that.
